Unlimited Service?
I got a call today from a guy looking for service. I get a call like this one every other full moon. His one and only question was if I could provide him with an unlimited answering service rate. Although I usually don’t even entertain the concept, I asked if he had any idea how many calls he receives. He quickly snapped and stated that he wanted unlimited service and that his volume shouldn’t be an issue. I sometimes wonder where someone like this, probably a business owner, could get the idea that any business could provide unlimited service. The primary expense of any answering service is labor. I don’t even waste my time asking my employees if they will work unlimited hours for a flat rate. Funny thing is that there are services providing unlimited rates. These services attract people like today’s caller who receive a lot of calls and pay very little. The end result is poor service. Our company bills you only for what you use, down to the second. This is fair for the client and for us. Billing by time ensures that we can always afford to staff for the calls we are handling, eliminating calls on hold and over rings.
